Hello, I’d like to submit the attached photo of my cat Buford, a domestic shorthair, as Pet of the
Month. Buford, along with his sister Rhea (also our cat), was born to a feral cat in the spring of
2001. Buford definitely loves his comfort, his favorite place being our waterbed, but whenever I
work on a quilt on the kitchen table, it is like a magnet for Buford. As soon as he hears the sewing
machine, he jumps up onto the table and plops himself onto whatever piece I am quilting. He
watches the machine needle go up and down, and the thread move along the top of the machine.
He sometimes puts out a tentative paw to catch the moving fabric. Of course, all of this makes it
difficult to get much quilting done. Eventually, when he gets tired of being moved, he snuggles
down into other quilted pieces and watches the proceedings. In the photo, he is napping on a quilt
I was making for my granddaughter Autumn.
